A video of a woman castigating Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho for not giving her ‘proper’ Ramadan food has elicited mixed reaction from Mombasa residents.

The video clip where a woman and a close male relative display maize flour, sanitary towels, green peas and salt has left those distributing the relief food in shock.

The woman is heard criticising Joho for not giving out the best food for breaking the fast.

“Hakuna hata tende, Joho hii ni iftari gani sasa?”

“The package doesn’t include dates, what type of iftar food is this? The woman poses.

The video shared by Mombasa residents on social media raises pertinent questions on the identification process of the vulnerable families.

Some locals condemned the woman saying the relief food was meant for the less fortunate and vulnerable families in the county and was not meant for iftar dinner.

“There is a serious problem with the identification processes of vulnerable families, can there be a change in the distribution process? posted a concerned resident.

The process that entered day four on Friday May be slated for a total confusion as locals fault the identification and distribution processes of the reliefs.

Joho has been struggling to ensure the over 200,000 vulnerable families in various parts of the county benefit from the relief food.

The program has already benefited several vulnerable families.

The process is spearheaded by the county government through a selected committee.
