Police are in pursuit of 15 criminal gang members who masterminded last Monday attack in Bamburi, Mombasa.
The Monday night three hour horror left 11 injured 4 in critical condition.
Police arrested four suspects that according to them, they provided police with useful information that will lead to arrest of their accomplices.
Gangs to be dismantled
Coast region police Boss Marcus Ocholla says all criminal outfits in Kisauni and the entire Mombasa County will be dismantled.
Speaking in Mombasa Ocholla said the operation will be nasty and the community should be supportive.
“In most incidences, these people are known but the residents chose to be mum,” he said.
His sentiments were backed up by the Coast regional coordinator John Elungata.
Politics involved
According to Elungata, police are pursuing leads that have shown some political leaders are involved.
“You can’t constitute a criminal gang to jeopardise your opponent’s development record, you will be barred from contesting in any political seat in future,” he warned.
Activists want tough actions

Haki Africa Executive Director Hussein Khalid noted that the attack was well coordinated.
“The youth started attacking innocent locals in different areas but at the same time,” he noted.
He urged police to address Kisauni security menace once and for all.
The gangs
“The issues of Wakali Kwanza and Wakali wao is nothing new to us, police should distabilise these criminal outfits once and for all,” he noted.
Other criminal outfits in Mombasa are Lipa kwanza, Watalia, Wajukuu wa Bibi, Wakali pilipili among other criminal gangs that are giving locals sleepless nights.
Khalid called on installation of CCTV cameras in various strategic places within Mombasa to easily detect criminal activities in the county.
He said right defenders will closely work with police to tame insecurity in Mombasa and specifically in Kisauni Sub-county.
