Whoooa! Another long holiday for Kenyans!

Remember the recent Easter long holiday, that was not enough, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has declared Tuesday, May 3 a public holiday to celebrate Idd-ul-Fitr, that will mark the end of the Holy month of Ramadan.

This marks the conclusion of either 29 or 30 days where Muslim faithful observed fasting.

Matiang’i made the official announcement on Tuesday through a gazette notice.

“It is notified for the general information of the public that the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, declares that Tuesday, the 3rd May 2022, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” read the notice.

Matiang’i also declared Friday, April 29th a public holiday to enable Kenyans participate in the State Funeral Service in honour of retired 3rd President of Kenyan Emilio Mwai Kibaki who died on Friday, 22nd, 2022.

On Friday, Kenyans will honour the late Kibaki at a State funeral to be conducted at the Nyayo National stadium before he is laid to rest at his Othaya home in Nyeri on Saturday afternoon.

Kenyans continue to flock parliament buildings in Nairobi for public viewing of the body.
