Police in Mombasa have launched investigations after a woman was found dead in her room at Bomu area in Magongo, Changamwe Sub County.
The lady of between 30-35 years according to police is said to have been living with a man known to be her husband for at least three months in the Swahili rental house.
According to a neighbour, Magdalene Ouma, the lady only known as Irene has been living with his lover without any wrangles and the death shocked them.
“We last saw Irene two days ago, despite us calling her mobile phone, it was switched off and our knocks at her door yielded nothing,” said Magdalene.
However, on Saturday morning, the smell was too strong for the neighbours, who decided to break the door only to find Irene’s lifeless body on her bed with a pillow on top of her head.
“We rushed to inform the police at a nearby police booth who came and started their investigations,” she added.
Changamwe police boss David Mathew said Irene’s body has some strangulation marks on her neck.
Police have taken the body to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hopsital’s morgue.
Police are in pursuit of the man who is the prime suspect in the killing incident.
Neighbours say the man has not been spotted in the house for some days.
