Youth remain critical component for the country to achieve a peaceful August 9, General Election.

The youth have been singled out as critical population that needs to be fully included in all governments’ peace engagement forums in a bid to achieve peaceful polls.

Addressing Kisauni Sub County residents during the launch of the Kisauni Social Justice Centre, the Social Justice Working Group National Convener Happy Olal said youth should not be sidelined when it comes to stakeholders involvement in the August 9, polls preparations.

Mr Olal noted that despite youth joining the efforts to preach peaceful coexistence among communities especially at the Coast, there efforts have not been fully recognised.

Olal reiterated the importance of fully recognising the youth in peaceful campaigns geared towards delivering peaceful polls.

“We can see what Wakombozi Arts Youth-CBO has been doing, working with the community at the grassroots level, this is what youth can hugely contribute to transform their own society,” he disclosed.

Meanwhile, Wakombozi Arts Youth-CBO Coordinator Said Shaban Mwagavumbi said the youth organisation has been in the forefront in propagating for peaceful coexistence among communities especially during the electioneering period.

Mwagavumbi revealed that the youth lobby has been engaging the youth and the entire Kisauni Sub County residents on matters revolving around peace, security, environment among other critical issues, efforts that Mr Mwagavumbi say they have positively impacted the society.

“By launching the Kisauni Social Justice Centre, we are opening the doors for more engagements among the local communities, we are currently focusing more on achieving peaceful polls and as well urging our peers to deter from being misused by politicians,” said the vocal Kisauni based youth activist.

He further disclosed that insecurity incidents in Kisauni Sub-County have reduced, attributing the situation to endless engagements among the youth in the area on importance of maintaining and preaching peace.

During the launch of the KSJC, the youth group in partnership with other community based organisations, the Here4You, Nawiri Africa among others, Wakombozi Arts Youth-CBO led a peaceful procession among various streets in Kisauni Constituency preaching peace to locals.
