Renowned youth mentor Mahmoud Noor has been appointed a Member of the Communication Authority of Kenya.
The Authority is under the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology.
Mr. Noor together with Paul Mureithi, Jackson Kemboi and Laura Chite will serve in the board for a period of three years effective 18th July this year in a gazette notice signed by ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru.
The Youth mentor, activists and who has been nurturing young talents in Mombasa and the larger Coast region has been very aggressive in instilling technology and innovation into young souls and youths at the Coast.
He also initiated The SwahiliPot Hub, a technology and arts centre in Mombasa that has benefited over 600 youth who have embraced technology in making a living.
SwahiliPot Hub has been the centre of attraction for government dignitaries and international technology experts who flock in to asses, share and assist the youth in venturing early into the future which is pegged on technology.
It has development into an iconic innovation hub where youth develop ideas into applicable solutions to various issues within the region and beyond.
‘Father’ of technology
Noor acquired the name ‘Father’ of technology, innovation and talents nurturing in the region from the youthful generation.

At some point youth pushed for his recognition and appealed to the ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru to propose him for the Safaricom CEO post.
“I thank God for every step he has guided me through, my appointment is as a result of how I have dedicated myself to the youth in matters revolving around technology and innovation enabling the youth to develop their ideas into income generation projects through technology,” revealed Noor.
Mombasa Youth President Alfred Otieno Ogweno extended his congratulations to Mr. Noor for his new role.
“Mr. Noor is a true mentor, friend and social worker very well known to the youth in Mombasa we are all proud of him,” said youth leader Mohammed Hussein famously known as Amadoh.
Kenya Red Cross Mombasa branch Coordinator where Noor chairs the Board Rajab Mohammed Said also extended his best wishes to the New Communication Authority Board Member.
Constituted in 1999 by the Kenya Information and Communications Act 1998, the Authority is responsible for facilitating the development of the information and communication sectors in the country including Broadcasting, Multimedia, telecommunication, electronic commerce, postal and courier services.
