Barely a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta dared hid Deputy to resign and carry on with his 2022 presidential bid, Deputy President William Ruto has reminded the president that the two are not in contest.
Ruto said he is the Deputy President of the country constitutional and he is performing his duties as per the constitution.
According to the DP, he is not contesting or competing with President Uhuru and Uhuru remains the person in charge of the whole government.
“I am not competing with President Uhuru, I am only supplementing him so that he performs his duties properly,” said Ruto.
The DP made the remarks in Isiolo during his empowerment tour in the county.
He said he will not back down in his journey to state house in 2022 general polls.
Noisy and messy
Recently Kenyans have been treated to a noise and messy fall-out between the President and his Deputy with Uhuru openly becoming low.
Uhuru has strongly criticised his deputy saying he has been criticising the same government he is working for.
On Saturday, President Uhuru asked Ruto to quit and concentrate on his political campaigns if he is tired of being in the government.
“You can’t criticise the same government you are in, kindly resign and concentrate with your politics,” said President Uhuru.
However, Ruto said he is not competing with the President and Uhuru remains his Boss.
