Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has been impeached.
Kiambu Members of the County Assembly voted to impeach the Governor for gross violation of procurement act and abuse of office.
63 out of the 92 MCA’s supported the removal of the Governor with only one MCA opposing the motion.
Other 28 members of the County assembly were absent during the motion.
Waititu is accused of violating the public Procurement and disposal Act, public finance management Act.
He is further accused of working closely with companies supplying the County with various goods and services.
Kiambu County Assembly Speaker Stephen Ndicho is required to notify the Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka within the next two days for a special sitting to be is convened.
The Speaker may appoint 11 Members to hear the charges and if nor weight complaints the Speaker may as well drop the matter which will mean no more deliberations on the impeachment issue.
