President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged to dissolve Taita Taveta County government and its entire County Assembly.
Wundanyi Member of Parliament Danson Mwashako says the county government has completely failed and forgotten its mandate of serving locals.
Mwashako says the wrangles in the county leadership reflect laxity and lack of commitment among leaders.
He criticised the political leaders for abandoning their mandate and getting involved in petty issues that have derailed development.
According to Mwashako by disbanding the County government and it’s entire County Assembly, locals will have a fresh chance to elect responsible leaders.
“Every party is blaming the other so you can’t tell who is right or wrong, let’s do away with the current leadership,” noted the Legislature.
Mwashako said Taita Taveta dwellers are yet to benefit from devolution.
“The county government if marred by corruption it will be completely useless to locals, it should be disbanded,” he reiterated.

His sentiments were backed by Taita Taveta county Senator Johnes Mwaruma who rubished the ongoing truce between the County government and Taita Taveta county Assembly.
Mwaruma said the county has turned into a laughing stock as locals and small business proprietors are shutting down following poor strategies to uplift their business and reduce poverty levels.
“Money ends up in people’s pockets, everyone is tired of the county leadership, let’s go back to fresh polls,” noted Mwaruma.
Taita Taveta County has recently experienced serious wrangles between the county government and the County Assembly, with the Governor Granton Samboja pleading with President Uhuru Kenyatta to dissolve the entire County government.
He blamed the County Assembly for the mishaps saying the MCA’s have been allocating themselves millions of shillings ignoring the poverty levels among locals
The members of the county Assembly on their part have squarely condemned the Governor accusing him of engaging in corrupt deals and discrimination in employment opportunities.
