Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has cautioned Kilifi security agencies against being politically misused to harass women in the county.
Jumwa said the harassment and arrest of some women attending Embrace peace rally in Kilifi on Friday was uncalled for and warned the security officers against being used to advance some political interests in the county.
The Legislature teared into Embrace women movement saying it was a political outfit that lacked any development agenda for Kenyans.
According to the vocal, fearless MP allied to the ‘Inua mama jenga taifa mashinani’ camp that is opposed to ‘Embrace’ said the Friday embrace shameless acts should be condemned.
“Our Kilifi security agencies are being used to advance other people’s political agenda, that’s very unfortunate,” she said.
Jumwa also gnashed Kilifi woman representative Getrude Mbeyu saying she has failed in her political roles and women should not value her leadership.
“Mbeyu is a coward who cannot help women in her own backyard, I am here to protect you, do not deal with Mbeyu,” she said.
She asked Kilifi women to walk out of the Embrace network since it was not worthy their political or leadership activism.
“We have never experienced ugly political incidences in Kilifi County, can they go to where Kenyans are fighting whenever general polls approach and not in Kilifi,” she added.
However, while addressing journalists at the Tononoka grounds in Mombasa on Friday, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko and her County woman representative Asha Hussein denied that Embrace was a political outfit advancing political agenda of certain political leaders countrywide.
