Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir has reiterated the importance of the country to go for a referendum.
Nassir says the country needs change in various aspects including leadership thus the reason why Kenyans should support calls for a referendum.
He says constitutional change will provide the aspects of inclusivity in leadership and quell tribalism in the country.
He drummed support for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) urging locals to fully support the initiative so the country can change for good.
“Let’s all read the report so that we make an informed decision before the expected referendum,” he said.
However, Nassir called for firm debate on the BBI report.
“Let no politician take over the discussion and confuse you, peruse, deliberate and understand the whole concept of the BBI report,” He urged.
He termed the report as a game changer in the country’s leadership.
The Legislature is already leading various forums on the BBI report to enlighten his constituents about the report and its importance to Kenyans.
He however urged them to participate in the community forums at their locality so that they raise their concerns about the report.
The BBI, a product of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga’s reconciliation famously known as ‘Handshake’ comprises of 9 main points among them fighting graft, inclusivity, national security among other critical aspects that are aimed at safeguarding nationhood and equitable distribution of resources.
