The only female Independent candidate in the Msambweni Parliamentary race Sharlet Akinyi Mariam has dropped out of the tough battle.
Akinyi depicted her toughness and unbowed character in battling for the Msambeeni Parliamentary seat only to unexpectedly back down.
Earlier, Sharlet said she will never bow down following what she termed as threats from her male colleagues and exuded hopes that she will become the next Msambweni Member of Parliament.
“I will not be bowed by the big wigs flocking Msambweni with their monies. My strength is in the people and we will snatch this seat,” she earlier retorted.
However, things seem to have fallen apart for the tough talking lady.
According to Ms Akinyi, who was earlier an Orange Democratic Movement member she has returned to the party to back up Omar Boga and ODM candidate for the Msambweni by-election race.
According to Sharlet, she has decided to support Boga so that he inherits the late Suleiman Dori who was an ODM MP.
She said ODM will win the seat and accomplish Dori’s remaining projects in the next two years.
She was welcomed back to the party by ODM Members Hanifa Mwajirani and Najma Mwandoro.
The ladies sent a signal to their opponents that they should be prepared for a tough battle on the December 15 Msambweni Parliamentary race.
The race has been termed as between ODM’s Omar Boga and Independent candidate Feisal Abdallah Bader.
Msambweni Parliamentary seat fell vacant after the death of the MP Suleiman Dori in March, 2020.
After Akinyi’s move, 8 contestants will now battle it out to lead Msambweni residents in the next two years.
