President Uhuru Kenyatta has been asked to immediately suspend the ongoing Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) regional consultative forums.
This is after the much hyped Mombasa BBI forum to be held on Saturday at Mama ngina water front turned ugly on Friday with a gang of youth disrupting Tangatanga press briefing at Lotus hotel in Mombasa.
The meeting was being graced by Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and Nyali legislature Mohammed Ali.
Mijikenda Taireni Association Chairperson Peter Ponda said the meetings have only raised unnecessary political tensions in the country and especially at the Coast region.
“So what’s the meaning of BBI? is it meant to divide the country, allow political factions to fight each other or unite the nation?” posed Ponda.
He called for an immediate suspension of the BBI forums saying they are only plunging the country into unnecessary chaos.
According to Ponda, the two BBI forums in Nyanza and Kakamega have totally yielded nothing.
“How can these politician collect views in such forums, do they even understand the content of the document?” he posed.

Ponda further urged the government to fund the BBI committee of experts so that it goes to the grassroots level an educate Kenyan on what is contained in the BBI report.
On Friday, the two Coast legislatures accused Mombasa bases politicians for funding goons to harass them.
“We will not be bowed down by politicians who lack matters of Coastal people at heart,” noted Nyali Legislature Mohammed Ali.
The Law makers said the Saturday BBI forum is meant to unite all Coastal leaders in highlighting the Coastal issues.
