A total of 16 teams are bracing for a severe ‘Pamba roho’ soccer tournament to kick start on Saturday 24th November within Mvita constituency.

‘Pamba roho’ soccer tournament is mainly to create awareness to the youth on drug use, violent extremism and insecurity issues.

Mvita Community Development Organization –MV-CODE, a youth organization based in Majengo within Mombasa is sponsoring the tournament to engage vulnerable youth especially during the long end of the year holidays.

According to MV-CODE Patron Taib Abdulrahman, the soccer tournament will run for one and a half month and will create space for youth to showcase their talents as well as nurture them so that they earn a living.

Mr. Taib an anti drug Czar and youth activist said MV-CODE will organise more tournaments so that they can reach many youth within Mvita.

“We know our youth become more vulnerable when not engaged in constructive activities or volunteerism, we want to cover that gap,” he reiterated.

Taib said that the 16 teams will be fully engaged in the soccer tournament, drug use awareness and negative impact of criminal activities among many other important issues that will deter them from evil deeds.

“In the first phase of ‘Pamba roho’ soccer tournament, we are targeting youth from Old town area, Bondeni, Floringi and Mwembe tayari, however the next season we will engage youth from Majengo, Shimanzi and Tudor,” he noted.

Bayern FC, Kibokoni, FC, Team Shash and Port Kilangi are included in Pull A, while pull B comprise of Dortmund, Kambi kikuyu, Ganjoni and Kuze moto. Crazy boys Barka Salhiya and Kizingo FC will battle it out in pull C while Old Town youth, D&G, Leeds and FC Moran will square it out in group D.
