Coastal counties have been urged to invest more on beach soccer to enhance the growth of the sport widely at the Coastal strips and the entire nation. Speaking to jambo news network National beach soccer head coach Idd Rajab Babu said despite the Coastal counties having proper beach facility none of them have utilized it well. “Coast region has better beach facility that can be used for beach soccer though none of our counties have invested in the sport” said Babu.
The Brazilian trained coach appealed to the Coast County governments and investors to support the sport adding that it can enhance sports tourism and improve economic growth in the Coast region. Babu who is the chief executive officer for sports Mombasa county also emphasized the need to start national beach soccer league saying it shall popularize the sport in the Country and give him an easy time to select a squad for the national team. Harambee sand stars are on course preparing for 9th edition of CAF beach soccer championship slated for December this year in Egypt.
