Mombasa county government has been challenged to facelift and maintain various sports grounds in the county to enable youth nurture their talents.
The county has been further tasked to fully venture into sports programs so that it deters youth from engaging in crime and drugs.
An activist Ben Oluoch said that sports was the only way to curtail social vices among youth in the county and if properly utilized to greater extent the County government will curtail bad behavioral change among its young generation.
Speaking at Ziwa la ng’ombe area in Nyali constituency on Wednesday, Oluoch revealed that the county had vast talented youth who needed guidance and mentorship so that they can directly benefit from their God given talents.
“Mombasa county government should protect and facelift sports grounds so that youth can fully venture into sports activities and reap from their talents,” he said.
Oluoch however asked parents to support their children whenever they show interest in sports activities since it can be a breakthrough for them to earn a living.
He scoffed at parents who only want their children to remain in school until late in the evening adding that children with sports talents should be assisted nurture them.
He has asked the County executive member in charge of Youth, Gender Sports and Cultural affairs Kelvin Munywoki Kyalo to inspect all the county sports grounds and protect them from grabbers.
