Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) has strongly expressed its faith of crowning the women inaugural Africa Trophy Zone Five junior handball tournament, slated for march 10 in Zanzibar .
Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) secretary Charles Omondi said that Kenya has a vibrant league with good players that have greater potential of shinning in the six-day tournament, that attracted Over 10 countries along the Eastern Africa region.
Addressing the media in Nairobi on Friday, Omondi said that the tournament which is supported by the International Handball Federation(IHF)will be used to gauge the national team preparedness ahead of the Africa Games scheduled for August in Casablanca, Morocco .
“We are glad to be part of this event because it offers us a good chance to expose our players so that they can gain experience ahead of the continental games,” said Omondi.
Among the countries that will battle it out with kenya in the show piece that aim at developing the sport in the region include Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea.
