The Kenya National Women Volleyball team, Malkia Strikers has resumed on a serious training at Kasarani indoor arena ahead of The Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) World Championships scheduled for September this year.
The queens returned for training after finishing their fourth National volleyball league last month in Nyeri County.
According to Malkia strikers head coach Japheth Munala, the build up team that has reported in the camp comprises of 17 players selected from various teams including Kenya pipeline, DCI, KCB, Bungoma County and Kenya prisons.
Munala also pointed out that his selection in this squad is youthful thus shaping it to be stronger for the future of the team as numrous players in the National team are edging out.
“It is paramount to have youngsters joining seniors in a team in order to give them exposure and time to grow as well as learn from their counterparts,”said Munala.
On her side Malkia strikers assistant captain Noel Murambi said that the team has a greater chance of shinning in the world championship since they had started training early enough.
The African queens booked their ticket for the championship slated for 29th September to 20th October this year after finishing behind Cameroon during the African cup qualifier matches in the capital Yaounde.
